ARCHBISHOP CELEBRATES FIFTY YEARS OF PRIESTHOOD AND FORTY YEARS AS BISHOP

Archbishop Rt. Rev. Dr. Oswald Gomis celebrated his completion of fifty years as a priest and forty years as a bishop at a mass at St. Lucia's Cathedral today. A large gathering was present at this service which was concelebrated by the Papal Nuncio H. E. Zenari and Archbishop Emeritus Rt. Rev. Dr. Nicholas Marcus Fernando. The homily was by the emeritus Bishop of Chilaw Rt. Rev. Dr. Frank Marcus Fernando. A message from His Excellency the President was read out by Deputy Minister Neomal Perera and the message from the Leader of the Opposition was read out by Parliamentarian Mr. John Amaratunge.
